The Diamond Duo
By popular demand I am repeating my Vox Pop show this week when my camera crew and I visited the home of Dawn Buyukertas in Karaoglanoglu where we met Dawn and Alan Burn.
Alan Burn was born in Newcastle, UK and moved to North Cyprus at the beginning of the year. Alan worked in the RAF for 22 years as a technician on aircraft then a year later he moved to Qatar to train cadet pilots and ended up staying for 14 years before moving to North Cyprus where he bought a property in Esentepe. His love for the guitar came to him at a young age before moving to Doha where he concentrated seriously on learning to play guitar.
Dawn Buyukertas came from the UK and travelled the world dancing and then singing before finally ending up in North Cyprus 11 years ago. Dawn sings 60s,70s,80s, up to date songs plus Jazz and Rock and Roll.
Dawn has a passion for gemstone jewellery and she goes to Istanbul to buy the gemstones and brings them over to North Cyprus where she makes beautiful gemstone jewellery to sell at the local markets.
Dawn and Al Burn are entertainers known as the Diamond Duo, who play for charity events in North Cyprus and we had a great interview with them and they played us 60s, general pop and Santana songs.
