Chef´s Choice – Homemade BBQ-Sauces
Traditional Brown Sauce
Summertime is BBQ time. And a good barbecue meal tradtionally includes delicious sauces. Of course, nowadays you can find a wide range of prefabricated sauces in the supermarket shelves, but it’s also fun to create your own sauces. To give you readers a few suggestions, I publish a little series of quick and easy recipes for homemade barbecue sauces.
Your imagination has no limits, changing and complementing the recipes to your taste!

- 120 ml ketchup
- 120 ml brown sauce (e.g. HP)
- 6 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 60 ml balsamic vinegar
- 60 ml white wine vinegar
- 60 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
Mix the ketchup, brown sauce, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, white wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce in a big enough saucepan over low heat.
Blend in the brown sugar and Dijon mustard until dissolved.
Simmer the sauce until thickened. Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Remove from heat and allow to cool before using.
You can easily store this sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for 8 to 10 days.
