Having met and written about Ahmet Abdulaziz previously, we were keen to see his art exhibition which was held at the Black Olive Cafe in Alsancak on Wednesday 22nd June.
Ahmet greeted us along with his daughter, Rabiya who is currently studying at University, and we admired the many paintings on display. There were some people we knew who had gone along to see the exhibition and I noticed one of the ladies taking home a lovely painting of a white horse, this was also one I particularly liked. Chris took a fancy to another of the paintings and in fact it is now taking pride of place on our bedroom wall. There was also a lovely painting of Naznin, Ahmet’s wife, which he did in 2004 and Rabiya asked if I thought she looked like her mother.
The paintings cover many different aspects and also abstract which shows the great artistic talent of Ahmet and in addition there were some paintings which he had been commissioned to do and he told us he is always keen and happy to do this kind of work. They looked very good to me and I am sure the subjects in the paintings will be more than happy with them. We said hello to Vicki Karaca who had made her premises available for the art exhibition and sat and chatted in her lovely outside area and later in the evening we settled down to a lovely plate of canapés, which were very varied and delicious.
I am not an art connoisseur but I do appreciate the talent of people who can paint and bring things to life on canvas and must admit I have always loved lots of paintings and pictures on my walls. Ahmet is one of the people with this wonderful talent and we hope to see more of his work at exhibitions in the future.
