Raising money for TULIPS (Help Those with Cancer)
The first fund raising event for EFRAR 2017 was held at the Tumba Restaurant and Bar in Esentepe on Sunday, 15th May and raised 1,195TL.
More than 90 people attended the annual event which traditionally kick starts the EFRAR funds for the following year.
Entertained by DJ Yulian, with his light and smoke show, there was also an appearance, for the second consecutive year, of the Filipino dancing ladies who performed three dances, two of which were in traditional dress. Their graceful, stylish dancing using candles and flower strewn hula hoops enthralled the audience.
The meal, consisting of several mezes with a choice of curry or BBQ, was cooked by Alex and Laura Kennedy ably assisted by Dave Smith. Tumba owner, Şevki Nasipoğlu donated 5TL from every meal.
Mr Nasipoğlu commented: “I am very happy with the evening and the amount raised for Tulips. It is always good to see a full restaurant for a charity event.”
Art Watson, EFRAR 2016 Chairman said: “Once again I am delighted with the amount raised as this event is always well attended and it was lovely to see the Filipino dancers again, they certainly add to the evening as their performance is so different from the norm.
I would like to thank Mr Nasipoğlu, DJ Yulian, the Filipino ladies, Alex and Laura Kennedy, Dave Smith and everyone who attended for making it such a success.”
