Earthquake Shocks
in Larnaca this Morning
An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude on the Richter scale was felt early this morning at 3:18am.
According to the [Greek Cypriot] Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, the earthquake’s epicentre was 13 km west of the city of Larnaca.
A second quake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale followed at around 5:16 am.
There have been no reports of damages or injuries.
The Geological Survey Department continues to monitor and collect information.
According to the Director of the Department Costas Constantinou, there is no reason for concern since in this area earthquakes are rare and of a small scale.
