Turkey has removed visa restrictions for all EU member countries
The decision on the abolition of the visa requirement for all European Union citizens was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Turkey.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the decision will come into force as soon as the European Union removes the Schengen area visa requirement for all Turkish citizens.
The mentioned decision was taken within the framework of the implementation of 72 criteria that were agreed between Turkey and the EU.
Turkey’s decision to abolish visa requirement aroused great interest in South Cyprus
The decision of the Republic of Turkey which was published in the official gazette regarding the abolishment of the visa requirement to all EU member countries on the condition that Brussels applies the deal concerning the Turkish citizens aroused great interest in South Cyprus.
The Greek Cypriot radio announced the news, “If the agreement between Ankara and the EU on the abolition of the visa requirement for Turkish citizens comes into force, the Greek Cypriots will no longer require a visa in order to visit Turkey.”
The Greek Cypriot Administration spokesperson Nikos Hristodulidis stated that the Greek Cypriot Administration will announce their opinion after seeing the relevant decision of the Turkish Council of Ministers.
Özgürgün: “My aim is the continuation of the relations with Turkey in a much more healthy and fruitful way”
In his statement to BRT, Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün said: “My aim is the continuation of the relations with Turkey in a much more healthy and fruitful way”
Mentioning the issue of the economic protocol with Turkey, Özgürgün said, “We think that we will overcome the problems that caused some discussions before. I think that the protocol will be signed in a very short time.”
On the other hand, Özgürgün said that the allegations such as making 25,000 people TRNC citizens are out of the question and added that lifting the visa restrictions on the EU citizens doesn’t show that Turkey recognizes South Cyprus.
