The new Oris Beach Sunday Market in Alsancak started on the 17th April and was a great success.   We haven’t had a chance to visit yet but will be sure to do so in the very near future.

The more stalls and choices available, the better it will be, so Steve Sydenham, who is looking after that side at the moment, will be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to have a stall at the market and he can be contacted on 0533 8750849 (Vanessa’s number) or email steve2vanessa@gmail.com.

Every stall is under cover and the walkways are also covered which will make it pleasant for those visiting the market.  There are many stalls selling a variety of items including food stalls with mouth watering quiches, paté, cakes, sausage rolls, doughnuts etc. There will once again be a stall selling cheap bottles of wine, including  Cankaya, Angora etc for 10tl a bottle.  Available while stocks last.  Lots went last week.  Also good beer and spirit glasses for 1TL each.

Steve tells us the Bacon Butty offer is ongoing, so for 10TL you can treat yourself to a bacon & egg butty plus tea or coffee. He had one last week and said it was superb and proved to be very popular with the customers and stall holders alike.

The market is open from 10am to 2pm every Sunday.  There is more than ample parking too. Follow the signs for the big car park. The road is paved all the way now and as you approach there is parking available on the right or the left hand sides.

Most people love markets and what a nice way to spend some leisure time browsing and maybe finding some of the items you need and perhaps stock up with some nice food items to enjoy. Steve Sydenham has kindly provided us with some photographs of the market which was held on Sunday 24th April and from what we can see it looks like a lovely place to visit.

  1. Sounds very interesting and worth a visit, but – whereabouts in Alsancak? After some searching, I’ve found (via Google) that there is an Oris BEACH bar near the Merit Crystal Cove, but there is also an Oris bar near the GAU….
I would like ( and hopefully others also) to visit this market – it would definitely help (and would be appreciated by) visitors (like myself) and possibly also residents if a little more information re. locations of attractions was included.

    1. Thank you for your comment and yes we should have given directions. The Oris Beach Sunday Market is near the Merit Crystal Cove in Alsancak. I will add an update with a map and directions for the benefit of visitors etc.
