Businessman Nadir in Turkey
Turkish Cypriot businessman, Asil Nadir, who was under arrest in the UK has been returned to Turkey. Answering the questions of a TAK correspondent regarding the issue, the Director of Cyprus Media Group Fehim Nevzat said that Asil Nadir flew from London to İstanbul last night and it is not known when he will be in the TRNC.
Nadir fled to Britain in 2010 to be cleared of blame to charges and he was unexpectedly sentenced to imprisonment in Britain in 2012.
Nadir who takes place among the most respected businessmen of the world came under fire especially by the Greek Cypriot conservative environments and due to the unfair blaming, he had to leave his huge Polly Peck International Company and returned to his country at the beginning of 1990.
British justice did not give permission to submit the evidence which would prove that Asil was not guilty to the court due to the principles of the country’s national interests and confidentiality.
Özgürgün: “The new term will be much more positive and productive”
The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Tuğrul Türkeş who arrived in the TRNC yesterday in order to pay an official visit, held his first official meeting with President Akıncı. Following his meeting with Akıncı, Türkeş was received by Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün.
In his statement at the reception, Prime Minister Özgürgün said that in every period they have seen that success can be reached by working in cooperation and harmony with the Motherland Turkey and also expressed that the new term will be much more positive and productive.
Stating that in the event of this cooperation and harmony continuing, both Turkey and the TRNC will move forward without encountering a problem on internal issues and negotiations, Özgürgün said developments will be faster and more productive in this regard.
The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Responsible for Cyprus Affairs Tuğrul Türkeş for his part said that the Cyprus negotiations proceed well, selfless work is being carried out for the favour, freedom and benefits of the Turkish Cypriot people and added that they feel great pleasure as Turkey.
Türkeş said that the establishment of the new government in a short time was an important step to avoid experiencing difficulties in the country’s daily life activities as well as ongoing negotiations
Türkeş also met with the real sector representatives at the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün.
