Tatar: “I invite President Akıncı to explain the truth to the Turkish Cypriot people”

National Unity Party (UBP) Lefkoşa deputy Ersin Tatar stated that he invited President Mustafa Akıncı to explain the truth to the Turkish Cypriot people in order to put an end to the speculations and the difficulties in the economic life.

Ersin Tatar

Pointing out some news in the Greek Cypriot newspapers concerning the negotiations, Tatar stated that some rumours started that the land issue has started to be discussed.

Defending that special statute regions will eliminate “bi-zonality”, one of the basic parameters of the Cyprus issue, Tatar argued that a structure with the cantons bounded to the constituent states, and the special statute regions connected to the federal state will cause substantial damages for the Turkish Cypriots.

Kyprianu’s statements caused reaction of the Greek Cypriot Administration

AKEL Secretary General Andros Kiprianu’s binding the two decisions of the Greek Cypriot Administration regarding the 3rd round licence tender for the parcels on the South Cyprus’ so-called “Exclusive Economic Zone (MEB)” and the reduction of the military service period with strengthening the election campaign of DİSİ have caused a reaction of the Greek Cypriot administration.

Andros Kiprianu

According to Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, AKEL Secretary General Andros Kiprianu accused the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades of conducting tactical games and sacrificing the essence of the Cyprus problem in order to gain temporary political advantages. Speaking at an event, Kiprianu stated that his party AKEL is worried due to the Greek Cypriot Administration’s behaviour  which has caused problems in the negotiation process, in order to help the election campaign of DİSİ.

Indicating that all these issues cause a negative scene, Kiprianu made a call for everyone “to be aware of not to play games with the Cyprus issue” and added that all sides should consider it seriously while dealing with the Cyprus problem.

Revealed: The $2bn offshore trail that leads to Vladimir Putin

British newspaper The Guardian wrote about The Panama Papers stressing that the flow of Money starts in Panama, continues in Russia, Switzerland and South Cyprus.

A network of secret offshore deals and vast loans worth $2bn has laid a trail to Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin.

Vladimir Putin

An unprecedented leak of documents shows how this money has made members of Putin’s close circle fabulously wealthy.

Though the president’s name does not appear in any of the records, the data reveals a pattern – his friends have earned millions from deals that seemingly could not have been secured without his patronage.

The documents suggest Putin’s family has benefited from this money – his friends’ fortunes appear his to spend.

The offshore trail starts in Panama, darts through Russia, Switzerland and Cyprus – and includes a private ski resort where Putin’s younger daughter, Katerina, got married in 2013.

The Panama Papers shine a particular spotlight on Sergei Roldugin, who is Putin’s best friend. A professional musician, he has apparently accumulated a fortune – having been placed in ostensible control of a series of assets worth at least $100m, possibly more.

Yet the files reveal Putin’s longstanding intimate has a 12.5% stake in Russia’s biggest TV advertising agency, Video International, which has annual revenues of more than £800m. Previously, its ownership was a closely guarded secret.

Roldugin was also secretly given an option to buy a minority stake in the Russian truck manufacturer Kamaz, which makes army vehicles, and has 15% of a Cyprus-registered company called Raytar.  (The Guardian)
