Bozkır: “We hope to reach a bi-zonal bi-communal federal structure based on political equality”

Speaking at a reception, Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır stated that Turkey’s desire about the solution of the Cyprus issue is the same with the desire of the Turkish Cypriots to reach a bi-zonal, bi-communal solution based on political equality. Reminding that the negotiations are continuing in the island, Bozkır said, “We hope a bi-zonal, bi-communal and politically equal solution will be reached in the island and Turkey’s guarantee will continue. We wish success to the two leaders in terms of solving this problem.”

Indicating that Turkey always supports the Turkish Cypriots, “while political negotiations continue, our biggest wish is to reach better conditions and economic development of the island”, said Bozkır.

Özgürgün: “Defending the continuation of the Republic of Cyprus concerns the Turkish Cypriots”

UBP Leader Hüseyin Özgürgün said that defending the continuation of the Republic of Cyprus by the Greek Cypriot side concerns the Turkish Cypriots.

Stating that the Greek Cypriot side made degrading statements towards the Turkish Cypriots, Özgürgün said: “We give our answer as the UBP, but we expect these statements also from our President.”

Tatar: “The Greek Cypriot side continues to struggle with the determination to dominate the entire Cyprus”

The National Unity Party’s Lefkoşa Deputy Ersin Tatar said that the Greek Cypriot side continues the long-running struggle with the aim to entirely dominate Cyprus and to manipulate the Turkish Cypriots from the 1950s up to today and despite all of the developments the Greek Cypriot side maintains the same struggle with determination today.

Pointing out the statements of the Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades, Tatar said that the latest statements of Anastasiades are evidence of the same superior and dominating mentality of the Greek Cypriots. “This is the evidence of the Greek Cypriot mentality which tries to deceive the Turkish Cypriots with the European Union and to make the whole of Cyprus a Greek island” he said.

Tatar stated that in case of a ‘yes’ vote to a settlement as Anastasiades mentioned, there will be “no sovereignty, political equality, economy, property and security of the Turkish Cypriot people”.

Twist visited Atalay

Ambassador of Ireland to Cyprus Nicholas Twist visited President of Religious Affairs Prof.Dr.Talip Atalay.

The continuing communication between the religious leaders and its impact on the peace talks were discussed at the meeting where the Religious Affairs Presidency’s South Cyprus Representative Şakir Alemdar was also present.

North Cyprus was promoted at the “Salon Des Acances” Tourism Fair

North Cyprus was promoted at the “Salon Des Acances” Tourism Fair which was held in Brussels, Belgium.

The fair was held with the participation of the Tourism Ministry and tourism sector representatives between the dates of 4-8 February.

Ministry officials and tourism professionals held a meeting with the Belgian and other European tour operators in respect of the Belgian tourist market related to advertising and marketing work and they also provided information about the country’s tourism and created mutual business opportunities.

The aforementioned tourism fair was attended by especially Belgian and European tour operators from various countries, airline companies, travel agencies, tourism authors, companies producing tourism technology, restaurants, tourist associations, hotels, cruise tourism companies, tourism marketing companies and many professionals in the tourism sector.
