Christmas Day dip at Iskele beach
On the morning of December 25th the second ‘Christmas Dip’ event was held at the municipal beach near Iskele. Around 20 bathers enjoyed a fun start to the festivities with a Christmas swim in the cool waters of the Meditteranean, encouraged by about three times as many supporters. The event was opened by Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadikoglu, and the beledeyisi opened the beach cafe especially for the occasion. A large quantity of tea, coffee and mince pies was consumed by those present, and all the swimmers were presented with a certificate to mark their achievement.
About 1800 TL was raised for the TULIPS cancer charity, and plans are already being made for next year.
