KAR warn of poison danger when dog walking on beaches

We have received the following warning from Kim Betts of Kyrenia Animal Rescue of poison substances being found on local beaches and we would urge our local readers who walk their dogs on the beaches to take great care to ensure their dogs are not poisoned.

“We have received reports of Palm Oil on the beaches of TRNC – in particular Aligadi.Beach walking

It is poisonous to dogs and there are already cases coming in of dogs eating it and becoming very unwell and needing veterinary treatment.

Palm Oil often looks like firelighter and can have a smell similar to diesel. It is often dumped at sea and washes ashore on the tide.

Please if you are walking your dogs on the beaches here be extra careful.

Kind regards

Kim Betts,
Kyrenia Animal Rescue”
