Joining me in the “The Main Event” studio is Adolf Kohn who was born in Saarburg, which is between Trier and Saarbrücken. It’s in the very western part of Germany.
He went to the High School in Trier and did his A-levels and then went to the University in Bonn but he did not like it. After his military service in Koblenz he started an apprenticeship in a Bank and graduated as a banker and then moved afterwards to Luxembourg to work for different banks.
He ended up as a banking expert and in 1989 he went to San Diego in California in the United States, to re-organize a Brokerage Firm. He should have stayed for 1 year but in the end he remained there for almost 20 years.
After 3 years he founded his own Brokerage Firm, but difficulties in this sector for him as a foreigner led him to the decision to become a pawnbroker and he operated as such for 13 years.
He met a Turkish Cypriot in the States and was persuaded to visit North Cyprus and came in 2000 for the first time and then continued to come every year on vacation. His friend Hussein, convinced him to sell everything in the USA and to emigrate to North Cyprus in 2008. After being a volunteer for Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR) he bought the Amanda´s Auction House in 2009 which was called Iain’s Auctions.
