Turkey and Tinsel “Who Dunnit”

at the Pia Bella Hotel

By Margaret Sheard….

Not being sure of commitments, I left it until the last minute to get tickets for the KADS Turkey and Tinsel Christmas event at the Pia Bella Hotel only to find it was completely sold out, but as luck would have it I fortunately managed to obtain the tickets of a couple who found they couldn’t attend.

Audience

There were 2 festive “Who Dunnit” Turkey and Tinsel events, one at JK’s Bar on Thursday 3rd December and the other on Tuesday 8th December at the Pia Bella Hotel, which was looking very Christmassy and the event was taking place in the private room off the dining area, which was perfect for the occasion.

As Chris is away, my sister accompanied me and we arrived at the Pia Bella to see the room full of expectant guests ready to try and solve the murder of Santa (played by Horst Gutowski, the Treasurer of TFR).

The players

There were many familiar faces so there were a lot of hello’s before we were all seated and ready to enjoy the 3-course meal which was part of the evening.   Before long the starter of soup arrived and following this the murder/mystery started with the players talking and arguing over various issues and their “soup” arrived with a very special one for Santa.    As the story evolved we were given a sheet to make our comments and to try decide who killed Santa and why.

After a break, the main course arrived which was turkey with all the trimmings and the Pia Bella had kindly prepared a vegetarian plate for those non-meat eaters, and it was very nice too.   The dessert was a delicious, rather large mince pie with a cream topping and this was mouth-watering as well.   The Pia Bella must be congratulated on the superb meal, the service was excellent and the food very nice indeed.

So who killed Santa?  The players came back into the room and there was Santa who said of course you can’t kill Santa.   Our friend and Secretary of TFR, Ralph Kratzer,  had a small part in the performance and he was the arresting detective.  After Santa accused Don Perignon (Stephen Everett), his daughter – Merry Christmas confessed that it was her, so she was arrested by DC Ralph and taken away.  The comment sheets had been collected and scrutinised and the winners were Nigel and Lyn Holman.

The arrests

It was a brilliant evening and KADS/TFR put on a really good show and thanks are given to the players who are shown below.
