Late Kaan Goal Seals Vital Win for Esentepe

Esentepe Colours : Red/white checked shirts/white short/socks .
Lapta Colours : Dark green strip.
An 80th winner by Kaan gave Esentepe a deserved win in this clash of the bottom two clubs, which leaves Lapta firmly rooted in last place on 4 points.
Esentepe Coach, Gokan Kim made the tough choice of leaving out veteran defenders Berkan and Bariş, who both have been struggling of late with injuries. In goal the injured Tuğrul was replaced by Serkan. Striker Başak recalled to the side was made Captain.
Esentepe which started brightly, took the lead in the 9th minute with a well worked goal scored by UMAR. After a patient build up involving Burak and Başak, the latter spotted Umar’s run into the box and passed perfectly to the winger who beat Emre in goal with a shot from the outside of his foot. 1-0.
Esentepe were playing some neat football, with both full backs Emek and Mahmut noticeably getting forward at every opportunity. Little was seen of Lapta who looked like a team low on confidence.
However, Lapta had a purple patch which shook Esentepe, Gürkan near post shot brought a good diving save from Esentepe keeper Serkan. In the 30th minute Lapta equalised following a corner which the keeper was at fault. Selçuk swung over a corner from the right, the keeper came for the ball, hesitated, where at the far post the tall Mustafa Yasar climbed high to head into the net with Serkan stranded in no man’s land. 1-1
Lapta maintained the pressure and after Mahmut had lost possession of the ball just outside his own goal area Gurkan put in a poor effort over the bar.
HALF-TIME 1-1.
Lapta were the first to threaten and following a long cross from Mustafa, Selçuk headed onto the top of the Esentepe cross bar, though Serkan in goal had it covered.
Esentepe rallied and in the 53rd minute following a Umar free kick, which was back heeled to Kaan which, his back to goal, put in a good effort over the bar.
Esentepe were pressing well, now with Lapta content it seems with a point in the 75th minute following an Emek corner from the left, Kaan at the near post sent in a glancing header across goal, with nobody being able to get a touch to it.
Esentepe eventually took a deserved lead in the 80th minute, İlyas produced a strong run into the box, where he passed to Umar who spotted KAAN at the far post to slot the ball past Emre. 2-1.
The goalkeeper was in action again in the 87th minute when he did well to push a fierce Emek free kick over the bar.
FULL TIME : 2-1.
SUMMING UP : An important win which will boost the confidence of the team, especially as their next two matches are away. This was a team effort, what some managers will call an “ugly win “ but vital in Esentepe’s situation. They tried to play football, and their movement off the ball was good as well. Hard to pick out individuals as the whole team contributed. Umar I thought was Esentepe’s best player, and for the last 2 matches he looked to have re-discovered some of his old form. His skill has never been in doubt, when he gets his head in focus he is a very good player. At full back Mahmut was back to his old form, overlapping and full of energy. In midfield Burak, put in another hard working display.
