The 2015 Girne Air Display for the 32nd
anniversary of the establishment of the
TRNC

Although Sunday 15th November was a cloudy day there was still great excitement in the air with many thousands of people wanting to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Many thousands people go down to the old Girne harbour to enjoy the festivities and the air show by the Turkish Stars together with the Solo Turk pilot in their gleaming and roaring jets.
Although it was cloudy, Mehmet my husband and I stayed with a few friends at our home, Villa Diva in the Çatalköy hills with its splendid views from where we have always enjoyed watching the air show.
We are delighted to be able to share some wonderful photographs above, taken by Claire Lamb on behalf of the Civil Emergency Service Volunteers (CESV) who recently helped us with our Halloween Happening 2 fund raising event.
In the evening we met with Hatice Kerimgil and Burak Besir at the reception at the Dome Hotel in Girne and the night was lovely with lots of buzz in the air and the food was very nice with stellar music provided by members of the Lefkosa Belediye Orchestra.
We also hugged and shook hands with President and Mrs Akinci and I sang a Happy Birthday song for this wonderful occasion.
Naturally we met with many friends and acquaintances including Leader of the House of Representatives, Sibel Siber and our dear friend Flutist, Burak Besir but for me the greatest thrill of the night was to meet the Turkish Stars and Solo Turk and discover that one of this brave and skilled group of aviators was a woman pilot.
These were Brilliant photos of a Brilliant Air Display. Although there were hundreds of spectators Every one was happy and cheerful without any trouble at all. If that had been the UK the pick pockets and trouble makers would have been there. Well Done the TRNC!!
