Glühwein und Jagertee
Mulled Wine and Jagertee (Hunter´s tea)
Now as the days and especially the nights become cooler, here are two recipes for drinks which not only warm the stomach but also the heart…
Mulled Wine with Shot
Ingredients
- 750 ml dry red wine
- thin zest of ½ organic lemon
- 80 g sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 10 cloves
- freshly squeezed juice of 2 oranges
- 250 ml orange liquor
Preparation
Put all the ingredients, apart from the liquor, into a cooking pot and stir until the sugar dissolves.
Gently heat until the wine is no longer forming foam on the surface.
Cover with a lid and simmer for another 15 minutes.
Add the liquor, switch off the hotplate and let it stand for 3-5 minutes.
Pour the hot mulled wine into mugs through a fine colander and serve immediately.
Jagertee (Hunter´s tea)
Ingredients
- 250 ml black tea
- 250 ml red wine
- 250 ml orange juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 star anise
- 12 white peppercorns
- 4 cloves
- 2 pc. pimento (allspice)
- 80 g sugar
- orange slices
Preparation
Put all ingredients into a large cooking pot and heat on medium temperature while stirring just until before boiling and the sugar dissolves.
Pour the hot Jagertee into mugs through a fine colander and serve immediately.
Add 2 cl of brown rum or fruit schnapps (depending on your taste) to each mug.
Decorate each mug with a slice of orange.
