Jay Wadams Photographic Exhibition

at Gardens of Irini, Bellapais

By Margaret Sheard…..

There is a photographic exhibition by Jay Wadams at the Gardens of Irini high up in Bellapais but well worth the steep climb to this wonderful setting.   The exhibition opened on the 15th October and will run until the 21st  October.

Jay Wadhams

We had met Jay at a different type of event some months ago when we were able to sample some of his jams and chutneys which he makes to his grandmother Fay’s recipe which was wonderful photographypassed down to him many years ago in New Zealand, which is his homeland.  Nowadays Jay and his partner Max spend their time between Munich, Bavaria and North Cyprus.

There is passion in Jay’s photography which is not just a photograph, some of his work is processed onto aluminium and acrylic and this gives a beautiful texture both visually and to the touch and all of his work captures light and atmosphere.

Jay studied photography at University in Auckland, New Zealand and later worked for an Australian newspaper in Sydney.    This was the first exhibition Jay has had in North Cyprus although he has previously exhibited his work worldwide.   Some of the work we were viewing that evening had been the result of Jay’s photography over the last 10 years.

Photography exhibition

As well as photography, Jay has a passion for food and is currently writing a cookery book which he hopes to publish early next year.  Not only does he like to write about food but he loves to photograph it as well so I am sure his cookery book will contain some superb illustrations of dishes.

Visitors to the exhibition
