President Akıncı meets with Mammadyarov and Hisarcıklıoğlu

Within the framework of UN’s 70th General Council meetings in New York, President Akinci met with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and the President of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.

In his speech during the meeting with Hisarcıklıoğlu, President Akıncı stressed that they have been working to bring peace and prosperity to both sides of the island, and pointed out the importance of the economy.

President Akinci’s meeting with Turkish PM Davutoglu has been postponed until today.

Akinci will meet with the EU Commission Representative Frederica Moghereni and Swedish Foreign Minister Wallstrom today.

Furthermore, within the framework of his contacts, President Akıncı will meet with OIC Secretary General Iyad Medeni, New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully, Foreign Minister of Sultanate of Oman Yusuf Bin Alawi Bin Abbas and the Secretary of State John Kerry. President Akıncı will meet with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon on Friday 2 October.

Turkish Cypriot negotiator Özdil Nami who is accompanying President Akıncı during his contacts in New York is also having separate contacts. Nami will also meet with the Deputy Representatives of the UN Security Council.

New Legislative year starts at the Assembly tomorrow

TRNC Assembly starts the new legislative year following a 3-month summer recess on Thursday, October 1.

The 8th period, 4th legislative year will begin with reading the annual report of the 3rd legislative year. Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Ünal Üstel will make a speech during the opening ceremony.

Taner will give a concert today in Kazan

Pianist Rüya Taner will give a concert together with “Misafir Odası Solistleri” in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan today.

The concert that Rüya Taner will give together with “Misafir Odası Solistleri” includes Ankara State Opera’s Solo singer Soprano Leyla Çolakoğlu, the Turkish Presidency Symphony Orchestra Principal Violinist Bilgehan Erten and the CSO percussionist Dinçer Özer.

The concert will be held upon the invitation, cooperation and contributions of the Consulate General of Tatarstan, Tatarstan Ministry of Culture and Yunus Emre Association.

The concert will take place at Salih Saydasev Concert Hall today.

Hala Sultan Mosque is visited today

The Religious Affairs Department is organizing a group visit to Hala Sultan Mosque in Larnaca today following the recent Kurban Bairam.

The visit is limited to 1,000 people. Head of the TRNC Department of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Talip Atalay said that they are organizing this visit upon the request of the Greek Cypriot Archbishop Chrisostomos II.

Greek Cypriots conducted a religious ceremony in Güvercinlik

It is stated that Greek Cypriots conducted a religious ceremony for the first time at “Analipseos Tu Sotiros Church” in Güvercinlik after 41 years on Tuesday 29th September.

A village tour was made after the religious ceremony in which 300 Greek Cypriots participated and the Greek Cypriots were hosted by the inhabitants of Güvercinlik village.
