new book launch at Milli Arşiv

Great news – Heidi’s new book “Art and Creativity in North Cyprus, Vol II” is hot off the press and the launch will be held at the Exhibition and Conference Hall in the new building of the National Archive and Research Centre on Tuesday 29th September at 17.30 together with an exhibition of the works of the artists, writers and theatre people. Heidi regards the book as a collaboration between the interviewees and herself.
Gökhan Şengör, the Director of the National Archive and Research Centre will welcome the guests to the first event in the new Exhibition and Conference Hall and Heidi’s friend Yaşar Ersoy will speak about the importance of literature and the arts that are the columns of the world of theatre and which all together are the columns of society.
The presentation of Heidi’s book will also be the first ever event of this kind in the National Archive and Research Centre in Girne. The book contains an interview with Gökhan Şengör who showed Heidi the riches of the Archive in the old buildings and eventually in the modern building two years later.
I have visited Milli Arşiv many times while doing research for other projects and am amazed at the vast amount of historical records held there especially in the new building which was purpose built for the archiving of Cyprus heritage and history.
This should be a very interesting evening for lovers of the art and culture of Cyprus.
