A North Cyprus Wedding for

Şenel Bekir and Ergun (Ed) Yesildal

The beauty of Bellapais, never ceases to amaze people who visit the village for the first time!

On August 23^rd the wedding took place of Ergun Yesildal (known as Ed to his friends) from Turkey and Şenel Bekir from Yeni Bogazici, both aged 32. Now resident in south east London, but they wanted to share their perfect day with their friends and relations from Northern Cyprus. Some of whom had not actually visited Bellapais before!

The venue had been booked for some time. Şenel’s grandmother would have been with them, as she could not fly, they booked Bellapais.

Sadly she passed away a few months ago, but they kept their promise to get married in Northern Cyprus.

An ‘Exchange of Vows’ and ‘Tying of the Knot’ ceremony was conducted by Keith Lloyd. This was of particular interest to many of the Turkish Cypriot guests. The Civil ceremony with the Registrar is so short, and many congratulated Keith on his service and his explanation of the origins of ‘Tying of the Knot’!

The Best man was Serkan Up and the Maids of Honour were Hayri Volkan and Mine Mehmet.

Over 150 guests enjoyed a wonderful full Turkish Cypriot meal of mezes, kebap and numerous deserts.

The Turkish Cypriot band Kelebekler entertained the guests long into the night with photographer Kerim Mehmet was kept busy with all his wonderful photo shots.

The final comments from Şenel and Ed (Ergun) were of thanks to everyone involved in their big day, along with the most beautiful views of Cyprus and the great food and service provided by the Kybele Garden Restaurant which just sealed the day for them!

For me it was such a pleasure to help Senel and Ed plan their very special day and helping them make their dream come true.!
