Peace and Freedom Day Celebrations 2015

Turkish Navy_3Battleships of the Turkish Navy, to arrive in the TRNC within the framework of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations, will be open to public visits on Monday.

According to the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces Press Office statement, the public will be able to visit the TCG Gökçeada Frigate of the Turkish Naval Forces which will anchor off the coast of Girne, the TCG I İnönü Submarine and TCG Bora Assault Boat which will dock at the Girne Tourism Harbour and the TCG Bozcaada Covette which will dock at the Gazimağusa Harbour.

The battleships will be open visits between 10am and 6pm.

Meanwhile, as part of celebrations, concerts will be given by the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces and Cyprus Turkish Security Forces bands.

The Cyprus Turkish Security Forces band will give a concert at Dereboyu in Lefkoşa on Sunday at 7:30pm and the Cyprus Turkish Peace Forces Band in front of the Atatürk Monument in Girne at 4:30pm.

As in previous years, the Turkish Air Force’s aerobatic display team – the Turkish Stars will also be performing a show in Girne on Sunday as from 6pm.

Dawn VigilThe remembrance services, festivities and other events will be kicked off with the Dawn Vigil at the Escape Beach in Alsancak.

The event will start at 9:30pm on the evening of the 19th of July.

Zerrin Ozer will be holding a concert at 11pm and the traditional ‘Walk of Flames’ will be held at 0:40am.

The event will continue with a fire work display at 3:45am and prayers will be held at 4:00am with the first prayer of the day.

  1. We went down this morning to go to the battleship and submarine but we’re told no after asked what nationality we are. We are English . I thought this was an open day. We allowed on this tourist harbour yesterday to watch aerobatics.
