Substitute Erol Genç came off the bench to score 2 goals in 10 minutes and finally sink any hopes that Bahçeli had of reaching the “play offs”. On a very hot afternoon honours were even in the 1st half, but Bahçeli wilted in the second half and Karadeniz were worthy winners.

Karadeniz should have opened the scoring within 2 minutes of the start when following a cross in from left by Umit Genç, Ogün Dursun Bahçeli v Karadenizheaded wide, when he should have done better.

Not to be outdone, Bahçeli replied when Uğurcan did well to flick on a header to send top scorer Eser away, but the striker sent his shot wide from a bouncing ball.

Bahçeli were thankful for the agility of goalkeeper Murat Şamliyaka who saved them twice within a minute of each other. Firstly, he brilliantly saved a point blank header from Karadeniz Captain, Ekrem following a corner. A minute later, following a fine move between Cemal and Umit Genç, the goalkeeper did well to block the latter’s effort with his legs.

Bahçeli strike force of Eser and Halil were causing some discomfort to the Karadeniz defence, and they combined well in the 36th minute to set up a golden opportunity to score. Halil on the right sent over a cross to his fellow striker Eser, but his shot lacked power and was saved on the goal line by the diving Ismail Genç.

Karadeniz struck the Bahçeli woodwork in the 38th minute following a foul given away by Şeref in a dangerous position. The free kick was around 25 yards out centrally, Karadeniz forward Umit Genç took the kick and saw his shot dip onto the crossbar and over.

Back came Bahçeli Eser and Halil combined well to set up a shooting chance for Hasan Soytürk to volley just over. Then on the stroke of half time a corner from the left taken by Tansu was volleyed over the bar at the far post by Halil. H-T 0-0.

The heat had taken its effect on the players Goal 1and the pace in the second half had visibly dropped. After 55 minutes Bahçeli replaced veteran defender Osman who had been outstanding in the first half with Köksal.

After 60 minutes Bahçeli’s Uğurcan had the crowd on their feet with a stirring run that took him past 4 players as he cut in from the left hand side. Unfortunately seeing an opportunity of going for glory his magnificent run ended in a tame shot straight into the arms of Goalkeeper Ismail, where a pass across goal to a teammate would have been a better option.

Bahçeli keeper Murat made a rare error in the 61st minute, when following a long ball into his area, he elected to come for the ball, but poorly connected with his fist. The ball ran obligingly to Umit Genç, faced with a open net, but the striker lobbed the ball over the bar.

With Osman off the field his calming influence was sorely missed and the Bahçeli defence were coming under more pressure and were starting to panic.

Karadeniz took the lead in the 71st minute, through substitute Erol Genç, following a bad error by Bahçeli’s Eşref. The defender lost control of the ball just outside the goal area, allowing Erol Genç to Goal 2steal the ball and sent goalkeeper Murat the wrong way, with his shot as the keeper came out. 0-1.

Another goal by the same player in the 80th  minute finally killed the game for Bahçeli. A great defence splitting ball sent Erol Genç away, he outstripped Kazim Gul to bear down on goal. Goalkeeper Murat did brilliantly to spread himself and knock away Erol’s first shot, but the ball ran back to the substitute striker to bury the ball away and sent the Karadeniz supporters into raptures. 0-2.

Bahçeli were looking well beaten and the game ended without them managing to mount any serious threats. F-T ; 0-2.

SUMMING UP ;

No disgrace for Bahçeli to lose to Karadeniz who are a good team. They have just the right amount of experience and youth and are a close knit bunch. Not surprisingly when virtually 2 families provide the majority of players for the squad. The Genç family provide 8 players and the Demir family 4.

With 2 games left and no chance of qualifying for the play offs, Bahçeli only have pride to play for and it will be interesting to see if they have any heart and fight left in them when they face unbeaten leaders Mehmetçik away next week.

Sunday’s match Osman in defence was outstanding before he was replaced. Hasan Soytürk and Uğurcan both played well in midfield. Halil upfront was always willing and full of running. But it was goalkeeper Murat for me, who made some outstanding saves to keep Bahçeli in the game and who is my “man of the match”.

ESENTEPE FOOTBALL NEWS;

Sunday July 5th 2015 ; Tamsu League Quarter Finals 1st leg.

Result ; ESENTEPE UNDER 151 and MAĞUSA TÜRK GÜCÜ  2.

Esentepe Under 15 side gave a good account of themselves in the Quarter final 1st leg against “Supa League” Mağusa. They were the better side in the first half and deservedly went into the break 1-0 up. Unfortunately they conceded 2 goals within a minute at the start of the second half and shortly afterwards had a player sent off.

In the first half Esentepe came close to scoring twice when Emre Mutlu crashed a free kick against the bar, and then defender Burak headed into the arms of the keeper following another free kick.

Esentepe took the lead in 39th minute following a brilliant move, Serdal Şahin sent in a great cross from the right, which was met first time by Kurtulus Kaya to volley into the net.

During the break Esentepe substituted goalkeeper Kürsat Çil, with Kemal Takatuka, unfortunately for the replacement he was beaten twice within a minute of the second half. Firstly a long shot from Nijan beat him, then a shot from Çağril went in off the far post to give Mağusa the lead.

To make things worse for Esentepe they had midfielder Izzet sent off for an off the ball incident in the 60th minute. Esentepe with 10 men on a boiling hot morning did well to keep the 2nd Leg game still alive, by not conceding further. They still face an uphill task, but we must hope that they can pull off a miracle and proceed into the Semi-Finals.

2nd Leg Match @ Gazimağusa Dr Fazil Küçük Stadi kick off 6-00pm, Wednesday 8th July.
