Dear Members, Friends and Supporters,

We are detailing below a very important project that we are desperately needing help with. Please take the time to read it and if you are able to help us in any way or need further information please do not hesitate to contact me. We would be grateful if you would also share this project appeal with your family and friends.

Thank you so much.

Kennel Block Rebuild Project Appeal

The kennel block is a vital part of the housing for dogs and puppies. It has Kar logobeen designed as 16 separate kennels with space for two or three dogs in each kennel needing special care or treatments or a mum with her litter of puppies.

This kennel block was the first building to be erected when KAR moved onto the land in May 1999 and has been used non stop for the last sixteen years.

The constant wear and tear by hundreds of dogs that have passed through the doors has taken its toll and despite constant repairs it is now in such a state that it requires a complete rebuild. This is a major project for KAR but one that is desperately needed. A great deal of thought and planning has gone into this new project which we intend should give us:

KAR Kennel Features 2

Light and airy conditions but maintaining coolness in the summer and warmth in the winter.

To give surfaces that can be easily washed down and cleaned to maintain clinical conditions.

Allow dogs to be seen without having to open the kennel or disturb them.

Give a safe, comfortable environment without being able to mix with others and stop any cross contamination.

When completed this kennel block will be used as a quarantine facility for new dogs coming into our care so that they can be assessed and given early parasite treatments. Also, for puppies, to help try to alleviate Parvovirus, Distemper etc and those dogs needing special treatments. The building work will be completed in stages as and when the funds are reached for each kennel. We are hoping that it will not take too many months/years to complete. The costs do not however include the roof which KAR puppywill be a separate project at a later date. The roof built of asbestos is not in bad condition but requires a special sealant/paint which is an added expense.

We are advised that the total cost of this project will be in the region of £24,000. The cost of this project has been broken down to each of the 16 kennels so that we are hoping kind members of the public may sponsor the building of the kennels at a cost of £1,500 or £500. Each person or company sponsoring a kennel will have their name or their nominated name on a plaque on their kennel.

We are appealing to members of the public from all over the world and are lucky to announce that two kennels have been sponsored by a very kind benefactor from Holland in memory of his dog Tess ‘from her Dutch companion’. Only 14 more kennels to go!!!!

Attached are photographs to show conditions of the kennel block today. We will continue to give updates and photographs of the work until completed.

KAR thanks you for all your generous support over the years and thanks you again in anticipation of your help once again for this our ‘Kennel Block Rebuild Project’.
