Atlasglobal Takes Children to
the Skies for an Unforgettable
Day in Istanbul
Atlasglobal Airlines treated children at SOS Children’s Village TRNC to a day trip to Istanbul.
To mark 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, Atlasglobal flew 20 children receiving family based care at SOS Children’s Village, along with their mentors, from Ercan Airport in Lefkoşa to İstanbul Atatürk Airport. From there, they travelled to the city centre and enjoyed a full day of cultural and historic sight-seeing.
Every year as part of its social responsibility project, Atlasglobal endeavours to fly children who have never been on a plane and this year they provided unforgettable moments for children of SOS Children’s Village.
On Tuesday April 28, 2015, the excitement began as the group, consisting of children who have never flown before, boarded the KK1019 plane in the morning at Ercan. After landing in İstanbul, they had a full day of fun – visiting historic spots in Sultanahmet and going on a boat cruise on the Bosphorus – before flying back to the island in the evening.
Ahmet Akarsu: “You have given our children an unforgettable experience”
Atlasglobal Cyprus Sales and Marketing Manager Ali Güneş visited SOS Children’s Village in Lefkoşa on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, where he was toured around the village and was presented with a certificate of appreciation by SOS Children’s Village Programme Manager Ahmet Akarsu.
In his speech, Ahmet Akarsu said:
“Our children had so much fun; some of them flew on a plane for the first time and were so excited. We thank Atlasglobal officials for giving them that excitement and supporting their development. We hope we can work together again in the future.”
He added the charity is providing family based care for 110 children, and is currently supporting 89 children under the Prevention of Child Abandonment and Family Strengthening Project, which is funded by the European Union under the Cypriot Civil Society in Action programme and implemented by SOS Children’s Village.
Atlasglobal Cyprus Sales and Marketing Manager Ali Güneş said Atlasglobal Airlines aimed to introduce aviation to children who do not have the opportunity to travel.
He added: “A child experiencing aviation for the first time today may be a pilot of tomorrow.”
He said he was happy to visit SOS Children’s Village and see the work that goes on, adding they wished to support the children receiving care and support from the charity, in order for them to live in better conditions.
God bless these organizers.
