‘PAWS IN THE PARK’ Dog Show
& Spring Fayre

Cyprusscene are not always able to attend all events and unfortunately was unable to join the Paws in the Park 
dog show this year but KAR Chairman – Margaret Ray has provided us with information about the event and a list of the winners in the various categories and we are pleased to be able to share this information with our many readers.
We are also including a lovely assortment of photographs which were supplied by Tony Woods. Many people know of Tony’s prowess with the camera and this can be seen in the wonderful selection of photographs he took on the day. Tony has been a long term supporter of Kyrenia Animal Rescue.
Paws in the Park Dog Show and Spring Fayre

The show was held on Sunday 26th April at the Wednesday Market Car Park area and there were 107 dog entries.
The prizes in each class were kindly sponsored by Dagli Trading, Selpa Trading and Comfy Pet Shop and each entry received a can of dog food donated by Dagli Trading.
Total money raised: 3,453 TL
There were some nice stories which came out of the show and I would like to relate just a few of them.
The dog that came third in Class 7 Best Street Rescue was a crossbreed called Black and he has Tag Dog number 0030 that KAR neutered in July 2005 and returned to the streets in Girne. He still wears the red tag and has been a community dog for nearly ten years!!!
The dog that was first in Class 3 Golden Oldie is a Jack Russell aged 19 years. He has been competing in the KAR dog shows for many years coming second last year. His owner Beverly says she is hoping that he will still be entering the KAR Dog Shows when he is 21 years old!!
A dog escaped from a car parked outside Starling Supermarket in Girne on the Lapta Road and was brought to the show by a concerned member of the public who found the dog running along the road going down to the new Harbour. Show visitors recognised the little dog and traced the owner’s telephone number who immediately came to the show ground to be reunited with his dog with lots of smiles and tears!!!

Club for bringing along their little pony to give rides to the children and thank you also to Girne Belediyesi for all their help and support.
