This article is about the first ever European Games in Azerbaijan which are about to start and are supported by the European Olympic Committee and from the videos and pictures shown below it is going to be a wonderful occasion. Perhaps one day our sportsmen and women from Northern Cyprus will also be able to take part in worldwide sporting events and this in turn will benefit Northern Cyprus as a host for games for the International community to attend.

December 8, 2012, the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee decided to hold in 2015 the 1st European Games in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku. The first ever European Games in Azerbaijan is a great success for us. The signatories of this resolution are also not mistaken in their choice, as the rapid economic development along with all sectors of life and in sport has led to the creation of a strong material and technical base, as an incentive to win the victory of our athletes in the world championships. The great achievements of our state at sporting events of international scale increase every year, Azerbaijan’s authority in the world has played a crucial role in deciding whether the 1st European Games were to be held in our country.
Undoubtedly the pragmatic, consistent and purposeful policy of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has played a significant role.
After the decision of the European Olympic Committee the extent of the preparatory work for the games reached an unexpected level. The results of operations of purposeful work of the First Lady of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee 1st European Games, Mehriban Aliyeva, come to mind. Construction of sports facilities for the 1st European Games, with high quality was carried out according to international standards.
European Olympic Games ceremonies in foreign countries will take place closer to the date. In this regard, the first in Europe, Germany in Cannes, “Baku-European Games – 2015” was presented at the ceremony. Azerbaijan’s first lady Mehriban Aliyeva, First Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, the Olympic movement originated in Europe and was later revived in Europe: “It was brought up to date with the European games and competitions in such games to make history as the first European games, making for us, as well as a great honour, a great responsibility for Azerbaijan. Today it is known as a sporting nation in the world. Support the sport, one of the main directions of state policy in support of the Olympic movement.
Mehriban Aliyeva noted that the Games will open a new page in the history of European sport and the first level of the games will provide standards for future relations.
At the same time in all regions of Azerbaijan, mostly in the capital and its districts, the excitement increases with the thrill of the first European Games. In this direction, in the Binagadi district of Baku there was launched a social project “Clean Binaqadi.” The Head of Executive Power of Binagadi district has signed a decree on the implementation of the project, which approved the action plan and set up a commission to implement it. The population organized educational events, contests, new parks, public service announcements. In addition, the commercial and residential facilities, parks, recreation and culture, large industrial enterprises held a meeting where each resident of the district is trying to contribute to socially useful work.
Note that for the first European Games the Olympic Stadium, with a capacity of 65,000, was built in the Caucasus. Confident and friendly competition in the sport, as a measure of social approaches. That is why, as the host of each athlete who will participate in the European Games, has assumed the financial costs.
The UK has announced the names of 153 athletes who will compete in Baku 2015 in the competitions. The competitions will be held on June 12-28 and athletes will compete in 13 different sports”
