St George’s Day 2015 at The George, Girne

By Peter Toms……

Wendy and I, as the Lady and Lad in Red, have continued to try and help promote good events for worthwhile causes and fun so together with George and Uzlem Ferhatogluları of The George, Girne we helped them create and promote their St George’s Day celebration on Thursday 23rd April 2015 as well as reminding people of the forthcoming BRS Blood Donor Day on Saturday 30th May at Girne State Hospital.

It started as an overcast and gloomy day but by midday out came the sun and many people joined us for the fun of the The Phoneix Line Dancers at St Georges Day at Cafe George Girneday which became even more exciting when Steve Bisson and the Phoenix Line Dancers came to strut their stuff in front of a large crowd that had gathered in the town square.

They did us proud with a selection of a total of five dances, three of which had “connections” with England – It Ain’t Cricket!, Swingland! and “London Rhythm Swings”, and they also included one Country Music dance, “Down On The Farm” and finished with “Bite The Dust”.

It Ain’t Cricket!, “Swingland! and “Down On The Farm” were choreographed by them, all of which are being danced in countries around the globe!. To see more of their videos please click here to visit Steve Bisson’s YouTube video channel or his website click here.

Jamie VincentThis fun event was also graced with entertainment by our friend Jamie the Man in Black with a great selection of his songs which had lots of people dancing and he, like The Phoenix Line Dancers, had given his time gladly to make this event so special and we would like to thank them and all of the people who came to join us on this special day that  was St George’s Day.
