Turkish Cypriot negotiator Olgun met with Eide

Turkish Cypriot negotiator – Ergün Olgun met with UN Secretary Ergun OlgunGeneral’s Special Advisor on Cyprus – Espen Barth Eide at the buffer zone yesterday.

In a statement to TAK, Olgun said that Eide is continuing his efforts for the resumption of negotiations and the meeting with Eide was towards this purpose. . Olgun said that “I expressed to Eide that the Turkish Cypriot side is still at the negotiation table and is ready to continue negotiations without preconditions and is also ready for constructive ideas.”

Furthermore, Olgun said that he reminded Eide of the Turkish Cypriot side’s positive and determined stand at the process on the Joint Statement which was signed on 11 February 2014 between President Eroğlu and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades.

Underlining that Eide is continuing his efforts to make the Greek Cypriot leader to return to the negotiation table, Olgun said he stressed to Eide that the Greek Cypriot side should refrain from unilateral initiatives regarding natural gas resources explored off the shores of the island.

Çeler attended a Youth Meeting in the UK

Communal Democracy Party (TDP) MP – Zeki Çeler attended the Zeki Celeropening meeting of “Turkish Cypriot Youth – UK Youth Organization” which represents the Turkish Cypriots living and having education in the UK.

According to the information given by TDP Press Office, Zeki Çeler was invited by Turkish Cypriot Youth-UK Organization as the youngest member of the TRNC Assembly and gave a speech at the Turkish Cypriot Community Centre.

Indicating the importance of the activity he attended, Çeler thanked everyone who contributed to the establishment of the organization.

Some Turkish and Greek Cypriot political parties attended meeting at the buffer zone

The routine meetings organized by some Turkish and Greek Cypriot political parties under the auspices of the Slovakian Embassy in South Cyprus continued yesterday.

Kutlay Erk from Republican Turkish Party United cyprus-map-divided smlPowers (CTP/BG), Serhat Kotak from Democrat Party National Powers (DP/UG), Deniz Birinci and Bülent Evre from Communal Democracy Party (TDP), Şahap Tokatlı from the National Unity Party (UBP), İzzet İzcan and Abdullah Korkmazhan from United Cyprus Party (BKP), Murat Kanatlı and Oğuz Özen from the New Cyprus Party (YKP) attended to the meeting hosted by United Cyprus Party (BKP) which took place at Ledra Palace Hotel yesterday.

Representatives of Greek Cypriot political parties AKEL, DİSİ, DİKO and EDİ also attended to the meeting.

After the meeting which lasted about 2.5 hours, the Slovakian Ambassador to South Cyprus – Oksana Tomova announced the joint statement that was approved by the parties to the press.

Tomova recorded that upon the proposal of the host BKP, the topic of the meeting was determined as ‘Recent economic and political developments in the region and their influence on the Cyprus problem’. Tomova stated that at the end of the meeting the parties reached a consensus towards putting forward their will for finding a solution to the Cyprus problem as soon as possible.

The date of next meeting which is going to take place in January will be determined later.
