The Kyrenia Chamber Choir visit to the

SOS Children’s Village

By Chris Elliott

I have driven many times eastward along the highway from Lefkosa towards Famagusta and so many times I have wondered what the buildings were on the right opposite the Bayrak International Radio and Television Complex and on the 27thSOS Presentation image November I had the opportunity of finding out when I visited the SOS Children’s Village in Lefkosa.

On this day George Ward, Director of the Kyrenia Chamber Choir along with Malcolm Davis visited the SOS Children’s Village in Lefkosa to present a donation cheque for 5,500 TL to Pelin Maneoglu the National SOS Director.

On hand to offer a Turkish translation was Fikri Toros the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and a member of KCC, he also joined as a member of SOS in 1995 and served as a committee member from 1995 until 2003 and continues to support them to this day  as a member.

To help you understand the importance and joy of this occasion we have produced a video below in which George Ward spoke about the aims of the Kyrenia Chamber Choir and the importance of the SOS Children’s Village and its work.

The SOS Children’s Village, Lefkosa which was formed in 1993 is part of the International SOS Organisation and on its complex it has 13 Family Homes where up to 84 children are cared for by a house mother. To learn more please click here.
