Sunday Roast at Melly’s

We decided to give Melly’s Restaurant a try for Sunday lunch, it was their first for the winter season and they had live entertainment with Jamie (The Man in Black) from 4pm to 8pm.  We had booked for 3pm as we wanted a late lunch rather than an evening meal and the chance to also catch up with Jamie who, although I had been in contact with on a few occasions, had never actually met him.

We had a starter and main course which was very nice and certainly no room for a dessert and after we had finished we sat on the comfortable settees and had a coffee while we listened to Jamie performing.   The chef had brought out our main courses and we recognised him immediately from other restaurants around the area, I say this often but it is a small world here in North Cyprus.

We met up with Nemo again, who manages Melly’s and also met the owner Savaş and his daughter, who the restaurant is named after.  We had a chat with Nicola, whose husband looks after the bar for part of the day.

After a while we persuaded Jamie to stop singing for a few minutes so we could have a chat and he told us a bit about himself.   Jamie comes from South East London and spent 6 years in Turkey, in the Fetiye area, where he would have liked to entertain but with the restrictions in the entertainment industry in Turkey he was unable to follow his desire and following a suggestion from Andrew Tait (of Andrew Sings…..) he came to North Cyprus in April 2014 with his wife Teresa.  They now live in Çatalköy and are very happy living here.  Jamie is registered with All Stars Cyprus Agency Promotions and so he can now perform legally in North Cyprus and is very pleased to be able to entertain and he can now be seen at many venues around the island.

Jamie went back to the stage and we needed to make a move so we said farewell to everyone and made our way home after a very enjoyable afternoon.
