Eroğlu: “If we say ‘yes’ to all the demands of the Greek Cypriot side, we will not find any place to live”

President Derviş Eroğlu emphasized the extreme demands of the Dervis Eroglu 6Greek Cypriot side  and said “ If we say ‘yes’ to  all the demands of the Greek Cypriot side, we will not find any place to live”.

President Eroğlu emphasized the importance of owning  a state and  said the Turkish Cypriot side desires to form a new partnership with the Greek Cypriot side which  will be based  on  two equal states.

President Eroğlu added that Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot peoples have been living side by side in peace however there is the lack of an agreement between them.

Foreign Minister Nami visits Berlin

Foreign Minister Özdil Nami is paying a visit to Germany’s capital city of Berlin together with his delegation with a view to carrying out official contacts.

Yesterday, Minister Nami had a joint meeting between delegations with Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, within the framework of his contacts in Berlin.

Foreign Minister Nami provided information to Roth, who previously visited South Cyprus in September and crossed to North Cyprus to meet with Turkish Cypriot officials and non-governmental organizations regarding the developments onOzdil Nami the Island following the one-sided decision of Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades to suspend the comprehensive settlement negotiations. Foreign Minister Nami also engaged in an exchange of views regarding what can be done in order to overcome the current impasse in the shortest possible time.

Foreign Minister Nami emphasized the instrumental role of Germany, as one of the leading countries of the EU, in order for the comprehensive settlement negotiations to resume, for the EU integration process of the Turkish Cypriots to move forward, and to end the isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots.

Minister Nami and his delegation also attended the reception organized by the TRNC Representative Office in Berlin on the occasion of the celebrations of the 31st Anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC.

Minister Nami will return to the Island today following the conclusion of his contacts with various non-governmental organizations.

Greeks Cypriots plan to eliminate Eide’s proposal from the agenda

According to the Greek Cypriot press reports, the Greek Cypriot side is planning to eliminate Eide’s proposal at the Greek Cypriot Council of Party Presidents meeting  which will take place today. Eide proposed  to discuss the hydrocarbon issue parallel to the Cyprus negotiations.
