Melly’s Bar/Restaurant, Altinkaya

I had a request from Nermin Toyer (known as Nemo) to help with 
some promotion of activities at Melly’s Bar in our weekly Events Calendar, so took the opportunity of going along to meet her as I had in fact never visited this Bar/Restaurant.
We sat and had a coffee and chat and I asked Nemo to give me a little information about herself. She is Turkish Cypriot, born in Edmonton, London, and then lived in Enfield before moving to North Cyprus. Her father was originally from Guzelyurt. Nemo came to Cyprus 3½ years ago and has settled here very well where, away from the hustle and bustle of London, she enjoys the relatively peaceful life in North Cyprus.
Nemo was a qualified child care worker in the UK and when coming to North Cyprus she set up a children’s craft group at Melly’s Bar. Recently she was asked to join the staff and so she is now trying to promote various events as part of the bar/restaurant activities, as well as continuing with her children’s group which is held on Saturdays between 10am and 11am for the under 4’s where they have play dough, painting, colouring and other games followed by a Fun Day from 12.30pm to 3pm for older children 5 – 11 year old, to join in.
Melly’s Bar/Restaurant have a Pasta Night on Mondays, Karaoke and Curry with Pete Murray on Wednesdays, there is a Mexican Night on 
Fridays with an authentic Mexican menu, Saturdays will be a DJ night with different local DJ’s to entertain and from Sunday 23rd November they will be re-introducing their Sunday Roast from 1pm to 8pm with live entertainment. The first Sunday Roast will have Jamie (The Man in Black) to entertain and there will be different live entertainment every week. There is a nice choice from the menu for Sunday Lunch which can be either 2 or 3 courses.

Dining is inside now that the cooler days are with us but I took the opportunity of having a look at their roof terrace and was amazed at the size of the area, which includes a very large swimming pool, so I must remember this when the warm weather returns next year but in the meantime I think I will sample a Sunday Lunch in the very nice indoor area and say hello to Jamie.
