The Foreign Residents in the TRNC (TFR)
Weekly “Stammtisch” get-together
changed to the Winter Venue at Acmenya, Alsancak

As always with the changeover from summer time to winter time in Europe, the club “The Foreign Residents in the TRNC (TFR)” has changed the venue of its weekly meeting, also called “Stammtisch”, to the winter place. Not too early this year, because the weather in October in Northern Cyprus was anything but late summer. Since the beginning of the month it was raining, the week before last week almost every day (which was quite unusual for this time of the year!), and the temperatures had dropped noticeably.
This time the choice fell on the Acmenya Restaurant in Alsancak, which was already the club´s host for the unforgettable “Authentic Bavarian Oktoberfest” some weeks ago (to remember – click here!).
Advantages of this choice are inter alia plenty of parking, plenty of room inside the restaurant and outside in the garden (for warmer winter days); it is easily accessible and is open throughout the year.
A big number of members are joining the informal TFR meeting every week to get the the latest information and gossip, give each other tips or just maintain social contacts which is especially necessary in the winter months when days become shorter and darker and one is tempted to hide at home!
The TFR is, to my knowledge, the only club for foreign residents in Northern Cyprus that offers these kind of regular meetings. This might be one of the reasons that the association became more and more popular over the last 2 years.
Having members from 21 different nations now, the TFR is the ideal point of contact for expats living either temporarily or permanently in Northern Cyprus.
To meet members of the Committee and club members and maybe decide to become a new member of the TFR, come either to the weekly “Stammtisch” get-together which is now held every Friday from 3pm at the Acmenya Restaurant in Alsancak, or make a contact by sending an email to tfrnorthcyprus@gmail.com.
