The Rotary Club of Kyrenia Liman marked World Polio Day on October 24th with a party night at the Dream Castle restaurant in Ozanköy
It was a great night with excellent entertainment from Andrew Sings….. who had everyone on the 
dance floor, and then donated their fee straight back into the charity.
We raised over 2800TL on the night, which will be trebled by the “Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation”. This will purchase an AMAZING 6000 polio vaccinations so children treated can be free from the threat of Polio.
When Rotary International first became involved with the fight to eradicate polio in the mid-eighties there were over 350,000 new cases worldwide every year. Last year there were less than 200!!
If Polio is eradicated it will be only the second disease ever – the first being smallpox.
Good result – sounds like it was a fun evening too….
