League Cricket arrives in the TRNC and Creditwest, the premier bank of North Cyprus, is supporting it.

Not fazed by the UN last week refusing the TRNC Cricket Club entry into the Buffer Zone, the club has 2 TRNC Cricket leagueSouth Cyprus sides, along with itself playing each other twice, to form its own league here in the North. Invitations have gone out to further teams creating considerable interest from teams on both sides of the border, so the league is likely to rapidly expand further.

Bellapais Stadium is the venue for the first league game between the TRNC and Moufflons C.C. The visitors are a club with a long tradition and captained by Cyprus Cricket Association chairman Muhammad Husain. They are based in Limassol and field a multi-national side, with a history of giving young players an opportunity. Local TRNC Captain Danish Afridi said everyone knows they are a very good side, so this week’s training will be more intense than ever. When the teams met previously the North managed a tight win, however, that was T20 and the longer 30 over/innings format will present a new challenge for many of our team.

NEXT MATCH:        Sunday 26th October at 11am at Bellapais Stadium. TRNC v Moufflons
