President Eroglu: “We had a very fruitful meeting with Secretary General Ban ki-Moon”

Upon his arrival in the TRNC, President Eroğlu evaluated his contacts Dervis-Eroglu LHto the press, and said he had a very fruitful meeting with UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon in New York.

President Eroğlu also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Foreign Affairs Minister of Pakistan and the Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in New York.

President Eroglu also mentioned the conference planned to take place in Columbia University of New York which was cancelled because the school administration said “We cannot provide your security”.

Greek Cypriot Supreme Court refuses the application on Bayram Holidays in English School

Greek Cypriot Supreme Court refuses the application made by the parents of the Turkish Cypriot students who study at English School in South Cyprus, to respect Bayram holidays.

The Turkish Cypriot parents demanded that the first day of Bayram be given a holiday as it was before 2013-14 school year.   Greek Cypriot Supreme Court after it examined the case decided that “English School is not considered a public institution or department. Although education constitutes public interest it does not make English School a public institution or department”.

Fascism wins again

Greek Cypriot footballer Dimitri Vasiliu who has been attacked by the Dimitris VasiliuGreek Cypriot fanatics after he made an agreement with Değirmenlik Sports Club did not attend the training yesterday. Dimitri has been threatened by his colleague workers as well as his bosses in the South Cyprus Electricity Association (AIK) where he works. His home was also attacked.

According to the reports after these attacks and threats, Dimitri called the President of Değirmenlik Club – Emirali Öztüccar and said: “These attacks motivate me further; I will attend the training on Monday no matter what.”

In a statement he made, Öztüccar said that Dimitri called him and asked for a few days leave.

British High Commissioner Damian Roderick Todd visits Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce

British High Commissioner Damian Roderick Todd visited Turkish Fikri TorosCypriot Chamber of Commerce (TCCC). At the meeting the President of TCCC – Fikri Toros briefed the High Commissioner about the history and activities of the TCCC. Referring to the negotiation process, Toros indicated the importance of the continuation of the talks and added that as the TCCC, they spend great effort to contribute to the process. Conveying information about the projects carried out for increasing the confidence between the two communities, Toros emphasized that they will continue to work on this issue and fulfil their responsibilities.
