Last Monthly Bingo for NCCCT

The monthly NCCCT Bingo Night on Monday 18th August was a sad occasion for Carole Lloyd as it was to be the last one for the foreseeable future.  When Carole’s husband Rod died in April 2012 she was adamant that in his memory she would continue with the bingo nights which they had run together for some 8 years.   With Mike Alican’s assistance this continued but unfortunately as Mike has now moved house and is living a very long distance from the venue it has caused difficulties and so the decision was made to discontinue the monthly bingo nights.  Carole said she is very sad but without transport it is very difficult and at the end of the day it is the most sensible decision.

Rod would be so proud of what Carole has achieved, with Mike’s help, and she will still continue to support NCCCT with their coffee mornings and other events.

So, with a tinge of sadness but a nice friendly atmosphere, the last bingo night took place at the Pine Bay Hotel in Alsancak, with 24 players, 2 with two books, and the rollover jackpot of 1,200TL available to be won that night.   There were the usual Mars or Snickers bars for the winners and the free raffle, and then the time came for the last page in the book – the jackpot, which was won by Paul Tilt, the husband of Sue who, together with Carole King, does so much for Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips).   It seems that many of the players, Carole Lloydincluding myself, were only waiting for one number so there was a lot of tension and expectation in the air, but well done Paul who was eventually the last lucky jackpot winner.

For some reason I am very rarely a lucky winner on any of the bingo nights but it seems I was to finish on a lucky streak and on the very last “one for the road” sheet, I actually won, so a nice finale for me.

The final result was an amount of 395TL raised from the bingo night, together with 400TL which had been accumulating for the next jackpot, giving a grand total of 795TL for NCCCT, a brilliant amount to wind up the event.

I think all of the supporters will join me in thanking Carole and Mike for all the good work they have done and will be continuing to do for NCCCT.
