Özersay : “We are annoyed due to the leakage of proposals to the press by the Greek Side”

Indicating that they are annoyed due to the leakage of proposals to the press by the Greek Side, Turkish Cypriot negotiator Kudret Özersay said that they told this to the Greek Side at the last meeting.

Expressing that the proposals put forth by the Turkish and the Greek sides were published by two Greek Cypriot newspaper and this created problems related to the negotiations, Özersay said that this mistake should be corrected.

President Eroğlu: “We will not give priority to Confidence Building Measures”

President Derviş Eroğlu stated that they are trying to solve the Cyprus problem at the negotiation table, confidence building measures are taken into consideration but they will never let the confidence building measures to be in front of a solution.

Moreover, Eroğlu said that while they are trying to find confidence building measures which concern both sides in Cyprus, they will make efforts to intensify works towards a solution.

EU Minister of Turkey Çavuşoğlu: “What is important is to negotiate and to compromise”

Turkish EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu made a statement related to the negotiations carried out as 6 chapters and decreasing these to 3 chapters and said “What is important is to discuss, negotiate all of the chapters inclusively and to compromise”.

In a reception Çavuşoğlu stated that the position of Turkey on Cyprus is obvious and added “our determination for being one step ahead of the others related with the solution continues”.

They will pedal for “Peace”

Turkish War Veterans Association have organized a bicycle tour for peace from İstanbul to Girne within the framework of the activities for the 40^thAnniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

Head of İstanbul Branch Office of the Turkish War Veterans Association – Ahmet Kendigel stated that this bicycle tour will take place for the 40^thAnniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation. TRNC Istanbul Consul General – Servet Dorak expressed that the activity is a peace message.
