President Derviş Eroğlu received Independent Commission on Turkey

TRNC President – Dr. Derviş Eroğlu received the delegation of Independent Commission on Turkey under the presidency of Finnish Dervis Eroglu 10Former President – Marti Ahtisaari. Former Undersecretary of Austrian Foreign Affairs Ministry – Albert Rohan and Former Foreign Affairs Minister of Italy –  Emma Bonino also accompanied the delegation.

In the speech he made during the reception President Eroğlu stated that there is progress in some matters under the topic of “Governance and Power Sharing” which he negotiated before with Dimitris Christofias, the former leader of the Greek Cypriot administration ; they have almost agreed on the topic of economy; there are convergences on the property issue and the Turkish Cypriot side submitted proposals on the territory issue and he added that although it was determined that the topic of guarantees would be discussed at a  meeting where 3 major guarantor powers would participate, the change in the government of Greek Cypriot administration caused return to the beginning in some issues.

Farewell visit from Iran’s Ambassador Rezaei to Nami

Iran’s Ambassador Ali Akbar Rezaei who completed his term of office in the island paid a farewell visit to Minister of Foreign Affairs –Ozdil Nami Özdil Nami today.

The stage reached in the commercial and social relations between Iran and Turkish Cypriots and how to develop the current relations were discussed during the meeting which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his speech during the reception, FM Nami said that dialogue with Iran is increasing especially under the umbrella of Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Nami thanked Ambassador Rezaei for his positive contribution to this process and wished success in his new term of office.
