Friends of the TRNC Emergency Services

The Association has now been running since 2011 with the aim of raising funds to assist with the purchase of equipment for TRNC hospitals and emergency services and 
to encourage and promote the ongoing relationship between, and to bring together, the local Cypriot community and the ex-pat community to achieve the aims of the Association.
To that end the Association organises events to raise funds for equipment and to raise the awareness of the Association.
From February to November each year the Association holds a quiz evening and an afternoon tea each month with a guest speaker, plus other events throughout the year and, since the creation of the association, it has gained a large number of loyal supporters who regularly attend the Association’s events and contribute to the funds raised.
In December 2011 the Association’s first major event was a Christmas Singalong which proved so popular it had to be staged over two evenings and this event was repeated in December 2012 and 2013.
In April 2012 the Association held its first ball at The Rocks Hotel which was attended by 200 people and, again, this has become an annual event. The fund raising committee aims to encourage sponsorship for 
these big events and have been fortunate to receive sponsorship from organisations such as Creditwest Bank, Esta Insurance, Meyve Insurance and author Martina Cole to name just a few.
During the year the fund raising committee organise various themed events such as 1960’s and 1940’s evenings which are extremely popular as the Association has established a reputation of holding well organised and very enjoyable events.
In December 2013 the Association built a Baba Noel grotto to enable children to visit Baba Noel (Father Christmas) and receive a gift from him. We were fortunate to receive a donation from The Little Society of Kyrenia to purchase the gifts and this proved an extremely popular event with both the Ex-pat and Cypriot community and will probably become an annual event from now on.
The fund raising events which have been held since the Association started have enabled the Association to donate medical equipment to the value of 260,000 TL to the Dr Akcicek Hospital, Girne and the emergency services. The Association has received plaques of appreciation from the hospital and the Minister of Health for their contributions to the TRNC Emergency Services.
