An expat´s memories of home!

by Ralph Kratzer

Although I have never regretted to have emigrated from Bavaria in Germany to North Cyprus and although I have left the Roman Catholic Church decades ago, I still get something like homesickness on some pictures that I find on the Internet! I am sure many other expats have the same feelings sometimes… We will never forget our roots!

The picture and text below I found today on Greek Cypriot “Cyprus Mail

A group of riders and their horses participate in the [Roman Catholic] Koetzting Pentecost Ride (Pfingstritt) near Bad Koetzting, Germany, 09 June 2014. The procession counts approximately 900 riders and is said to be one of the oldest Bavarian customs. The so-called ‘Mannerleut’ ride from Koetzting to the near-by Church of Saint Nicholas. Women are not allowed to participate in the ride.

Note of the author: “Bad” in the name of a German town means “Bath” or “health resort”
