ESENTEPE FUN, RUN AND

RAMBLE 2014

Raising money for TULIPS (Help Those with Cancer)

By Margaret Sheard.

There have been many updates giving results of various events which have been part of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2014, and we have been given a review of the final event which was held at Stevie’s Restaurant and Bar in Küçük Erenköy.

We are already aware of and have published the final total of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2014 which was an amazing 65,731TL and this was presented to Raziye Kocaismail on Wednesday 30th April. However, the event at Stevie’s Restaurant was such a success that we felt an acknowledgment should be given to this last event.  We apologise that this was not published sooner.

Member of the Committee, Sue Steel, has given us the following review.

The final event of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2014Mary Watson with her raffle prize has raised an incredible 5,955TL to add to the running total which will be announced in the coming days.

The event, held at Stevie’s Restaurant and Bar in Küçük Erenköy attracted about 80 people who enjoyed a hot and cold buffet, a raffle, an auction and entertainment by Mr Swing, Tony Wand.

The raffle raised 1,090TL and the auction, taken by Auctioneer Karl Rugg, raised 4,295TL with all lots being sold and many going well over their reserve price.

Mr Stevie Stockwell, owner of Stevie’s gave 20% of the buffet income which amounted to TL525 and the remainder waPaul and Marilyn Lee of Esentepes raised by selling colourful wrist bands (TL45).

Mr Art Watson, Chairman of the 2014 committee commented: “This has been a fantastic night and we could not have wished for a better final event. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the entertainment. All lots were sold and the raffle went really well. We are excited to count and announce the final total to everyone next week. I can definitely say this has been the most profitable year to date.”

The Carrington Shield, presented to the person who most personifies the ethos of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble was awarded to Gill Moon of Bahceli who, over the four years the event has been running, Gill Moon with Alison Hatcher and Eddie Çelebihas singly raised an astonishing 13,840TL. Mrs Moon was also presented with a cup which she keeps as the shield is returned to Carringtons until next year.

Mrs Moon said: “I am so happy to receive this award, it means so much to me as I have raised the money for George (Roper), in his memory and I will continue to do so as long as I can. I want to thank the people of North Cyprus who sponsored me as I could not have done this on my own”

The final amount raised will be announced and handed over to Tulips on Wednesday, 30th April.
