NCCCT Annual General Meeting

By Margaret Sheard

We were pleased to be invited to the NCCCT Annual General Meeting which was held at the Pia Bella Hotel on Friday 21st March. Although NCCCT logothe meeting was open to the general public, there were very few in attendance but the meeting was conducted in accordance with the normal procedures.

Marion Stuart had been elected to chair the meeting and Angela Hasman, Chairman of NCCCT thanked her and welcomed the committee members and others. The meeting started with the previous AGM minutes being read and approved and this was followed by the Chairman’s Report and the Treasurer’s Report. The accounts, as circulated, were approved and there then followed discussion regarding the shops and various events and a vote of thanks was extended to Mehmet and Janet for their work with the shops and also Carole and Mike for the monthly bingo event.

It was agreed that the current committee would be re-elected, including the previously vacant post of Secretary which has now been undertaken by Laura Curry.

NCCCT AGM

NCCCT are always pleased to receive help with the 2 shops so would be pleased to hear from anyone who has some time to spare and would like to help out and also to receive donations of clothes, bric-a-brac etc. at either of the shops.

Having been invited to various presentations of equipment to Girne State Hospital, it is good to witness how the money raised, in the shops and at events, is utilised. During the last year equipment amounting to US$21,000, Euros 10,600 and TL 94,000 was provided to the hospital. This is a huge amount of money and is raised from the generosity of the supporters of NCCCT, and also not forgetting the additional donations which are received from other sources.

The last item of equipment purchased on beThe NCCCT Committee with Health Minister, Ahmet Gulle (centre)half of the hospital was an Eye Refractor Machine and we wrote an article about this presentation. It is very refreshing to be able to see the wonderful equipment which is donated to the hospital and even more the look of delight on the faces of the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital as they receive yet another item of much needed equipment to help them to improve the medical service here in North Cyprus.
