NCCCT Coffee Morning – March 2014

By Margaret Sheard

This month’s NCCCT Coffee Morning was held at Di Figaro Restaurant in Karaoğlanoğlu and having never been there before I was really 1looking forward to it. I had looked at the venue on the internet and it looked like a really nice place and I was not disappointed. Although the event was held indoors in the lovely dining area, I noticed there was a large terrace overlooking the sea and this seems to be yet another splendid area for coffee mornings when the weather has settled and we can enjoy the sunshine.

There were around 100 people attending the e2vent and the loyal stallholders with their assortment of clothing, ceramics, greeting cards, plants and bric-a-brac, always a nice area to browse around. Di Figaro had laid on tea, coffee and cake which was especially yummy and the NCCCT supporters were sitting at the many round tables chatting and catching up with friends and acquaintances.

There were some nice raffle prizes and towards the end of the morning 4the raffle was drawn.

The amount raised for NCCCT was 2,492TL and brilliant amount which will go towards even more equipment for our local hospital.

Helping with the tea/coffee was Salih Harmandağlı, the owner of Di Figaro and we managed to have a few words with him at the end of the event. There were 2 motorbikes at the entrance to the dining room and it appears Salih is a keen enthusiast, owning a variety of bikes including a Harley Davidson. He said he started building the restaurant in 2004 and finished it in 2006, he ran it for a while 3and then moved to London where he had a restaurant in Covent Garden with his uncle. Eventually he moved back to Cyprus and took over Di Figaro again and seems to have a really nice enterprise with the speciality of a wedding venue. It really is a lovely setting for a wedding. No problems with parking, there is a huge car parking area at the front of the restaurant.

I hope NCCCT will return to Di Figaro for their coffee morning again, it really is a nice place to visit and relax.
