GREEK CYPRIOT COUNCIL OF MINISTERS RESIGN

It was reported that following the coalition partner DIKO’s separation from Anastasiades’ government, 4 Ministers of DIKO submitted their resignations to Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades during the extraordinary meeting of Greek Cypriot Council of Ministers on Friday, and then the rest of the ministers resigned.

Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades demanded from ministers to remain in office until 15 March until the cabinet reshapes.

Greek Cypriot Minister of Trade, Industry, Tourism and Energy Yorgos Lakkotripis resigned from DIKO yesterday (2nd March 2014)..

According to the Greek Cypriot news sources, in his statement regarding his resignation, Lakkotripis said that he does not support DIKO’s resignation from the government.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTRY AND ICDT WILL ORGANIZE JOINT WORKSHOP  

TRNC Foreign Affairs Ministry and Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) will organize a joint workshop themed “Export Promotion and Investment Strategies in the context of Globalization”.

Director General of ICDT El Hassane Hzaine, high level officials of the Ministries responsible for Economy and Trade in member and observer countries of OIC, the experts serving within the structure of ICDT and the academicians from TRNC universities will attend the workshop which will take place at the Near East University (NEU) at 9:30 today.

CTP-BG DEPUTY CANDAN MAKES A SPEECH AT ITALIAN PARLIAMENT

It was reported that Deputy of the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) Armağan Candan gave a speech at a conference organized at Italian Parliament on the issue of Cyprus.

According to the information given by the Republican Assembly, in his speech, Candan stressed that Turkish Cypriots’ desire for a permanent solution still continues.

In his speech, former Italian Senator  Paolo Amato, who is a citizen of the TRNC, reminded his citizenship and protested the injustice to the Turkish Cypriots. Expressing that as part of his job, he raises the question of the Cyprus problem very often but he faces protests of the Greek Cypriots at all times, Amato said that they have been working to develop the commercial relations between the TRNC and Italy.

Pointing out the necessity to use Turkey as a passageway to transfer the natural resources to be explored around the country, Amato said that if the negotiations fail again, it is inevitable for the EU to make the Turkish Cypriot side a member of the EU as a separate state.
