About Us
Performing under the name ‘Andrew sings…..’ we are two British guys who love music and love to share that passion with others and see them enjoy life through music. Andrew Tait is the primary vocalist, originally from Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, and loves nothing better than a bit of Swing – Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble etc. The second member of the duo is Glen King, from Irthlingborough in Northamptonshire. Glen loves the pop classics of the 80s and is a huge George Michael and Boy George/Culture Club fan. Before moving to North Cyprus we lived in Turkey for over 5 years, 
where we performed in the bars, restaurants and holiday complexes of Altinkum and Akbuk on the Aegean Coast and in the Fethiye area on the Mediterranean Coast.
I, Andrew, was formerly a communications professional in the global financial services industry, but I had always had a huge desire to be a singer and share my enjoyment of music with other people. So much so that I spent many an evening in karaoke bars crooning my tunes whilst enjoying a fine ale or two! I even went for an audition (many years ago now) for a part in a West End musical – sadly without success. My past musical career also included playing both the cornet and the trombone in a brass band, but I haven’t “tootled the flute” for quite a few years now.
Glen, a former nurse in the UK, has always had a keen interest in music and (mis-)spent many a night on the da
ncefloor of some of London’s greatest dance halls in the mid to late 80s. Hence the influence on his musical choices are some of the greatest stars of the 80s, and especially some of the original contemporary R&B coming out of the US during that decade such as Freddie Jackson, Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King and Teddy Pendergrass as well as the likes of UK popular artists such as Wham! and Culture Club.
In 2009 we were asked by two special friends in the resort of Altinkum, Didim if we would like to do a ‘show’ at their bar – The Cavern. It didn’t take much persuasion, and soon I was feeling the stress of learning 30 new songs in a 4 week period for my very first ever public performance as a solo professional vocalist. Glen played the role of sound engineer and kept me on track with my song choices and my rehearsals.
Following that first performance things just steam-rollered, to the point in early 2012 I was doing 5 or 6 gigs regularly every week in Didim and Akbuk, and Glen was joining me on stage in the occasional duet as well as his own solo performances. Whilst Swing is my favourite genre and a huge influence on my musical preferences, I perform many classic and contemporary pop songs from across 6 decades – everything from Frank Sinatra and Matt Monroe to 
Adele and Olly Murs. I love singing rock ‘n’ roll from the 50s, classic songs from the 60s, and disco, soul and glam rock from the 70s. However I do also sing many contemporary pop classics from more recent times. Glen sometime enjoys singing classics from the 80s and 90s and, if you catch him on a good night, together we perform duets from the likes of The Drifters, Average White Band, Brother Beyond and Boyzone. Whilst Glen sometimes performs during our variety shows (although he prefers to stay in the background as the sound engineer), I also take to the stage solo for several various theme shows including a Rat Pack Show, An Evening With Tom & Engelbert, and a Swinging Sixties night. Other theme nights we have added to our repertoire more recently include a Hollywood Night, James Bond Themes, and a Country & Western night for all those who love a bit of line dancing.
We currently have over 300 songs in our repertoire, and strive to add more on a regular basis in order to keep our act fresh and exciting both for our followers and for ourselves. We absolutely love music, and we love it even more when our audiences enjoy listening to our performances and get to their feet dancing.
As a registered act with All Stars Agency Promotions in North Cyprus, we are also available for private bookings, for example weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties etc. However in summer these are subject to our extremely busy schedule – so early booking is advised.
