TURKISH CYPRIOTS CLAIM 50 MILLION EUROS COMPENSATION FOR THEIR IMMOVABLE PROPERTIES IN SOUTH CYPRUS

Greek Cypriot daily newspaper “Simerini” reported that Turkish Cypriots have gone to law at the Greek Cypriot courts for the claim of compensation for their immovable properties in South Cyprus.Gavel hammer

The newspaper stated that the Turkish Cypriots brought a suit at the Greek Cypriot courts against the Greek Cypriot Attorney General’s Office and the Greek Cypriot Interior Ministry which is the Trustee for Turkish Cypriot immovable properties in South Cyprus in order to claim compensation for their immovable properties in Baf, Limasol and the land where a part of Andreas Papandreou military base is located.

According to the news, the amount of the compensation is 50 million Euros.

PRESIDENT EROĞLU: ‘UNILATERAL COMMENT ON JOINT STATEMENT MAY GIVE HARM TO NEGOTIATION PROCESS’

President Derviş Eroğlu said that the basis of comments of the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades on Dervis Eroglu - Picture by BRTthe issue of the joint statement is not true and it does not accord with reality.

Eroğlu added: ‘We as the Turkish Cypriot side consider that making unilateral comments on the issue of the joint statement may give harm to the negotiation process in Cyprus.’

Underlining that the joint statement is a study to resume the negotiations and it is not a solution in itself, Eroğlu said that they should use the joint statement as an instrument to reach a fair and permanent solution which is the common target of both sides in Cyprus.

ÖZERSAY:THREE STAGE PROPOSAL FOR STRUCTURED NEGOTIATIONS”

Turkish Cypriot negotiator – Kudret Özersay stated thKudret Özersayat they have made a three stage proposal for structured negotiations.

Özersay said ‘we as the Turkish Cypriot side informed our collocutor what we understand by structured negotiations and put forward our proposal which is composed of three steps. During the next meeting, the Greek Cypriot side will respond to our proposal.’

Explaining that as the negotiators, they reached an agreement in principle to meet twice a week, Özersay said that they could hold more meetings if necessary.

TR FOREIGN MINISTER DAVUTOĞLU: “PARAMETERS OF PEACE ARE IN THAT STATEMENT”

Ahmet Davutoğlu 2Indicating that the joint statement on which the leaders in Cyprus reached a consensus includes all parameters of peace, Turkish Republic Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said: “Now it is time for building a construction on these parameters.

Columns and walls should be built gradually on this statement and a peaceful Cyprus should be reconstructed.”

FOREIGN MINISTER NAMI IS GOING TO BRUSSELS FOR PRESENTATIONS AND CONTACTS

Foreign Minister Özdil Nami is going to Brussels today (17.02.2014) in order to make Ozdil Namipresentations at the European Policy Centre and at the European Union Socialist Group meeting which will be organized at the European Parliament and also to have official contacts.

Minister Nami will be accompanied by the Ministry Private Secretary – Hüseyin Özel and the Coordinator of the European Union Coordination Centre Erhan Erçin.

Foreign Minister Özdil Nami and the accompanying delegation will return to the TRNC on 20th February at 19.45 after completing their contacts in Brussels.

NIKOLAS PAPADOPULOS: “TO AGREE WITH GREEK CYPRIOT LEADER IS IMPOSSIBLE”

Leader of the Greek Cypriot political party, DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos stated in Nicolas Papadopoulosan interview with Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros that the recent developments in the Cyprus problem is not a reason for withdrawing from the government but it is the reason of the conflict between DİKO and the leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Nikos Anastasiades. Papadopoulos accused Anastasiades for not behaving collectively and disregarding the calls of his partner in the government.
