NCCCT Coffee Morning at The

Rocks

By Margaret Sheard

At last I managed to get to the NCCCT Coffee Morning this month at The Rocks Hotel in Girne. A little apprehensive as this is the first event I have ventured out to for the past 2½ months due to a very painful back problem.1

I must say it was well worth it as The Rocks had really done NCCCT proud with the wonderful array of very tempting cakes and tea/coffee and the staff were circulating around the tables with top ups as cups were emptied. I spoke with the Chair, Angela Hasman, during the morning and she was so grateful to the Rocks for their support of the charity by supplying everything totally free.

There were many familiar faces present and the l3oyal supporters Mike Alican at the door and Carole Lloyd doing her usual job of encouraging people to buy raffle tickets. There were many of the usual stallholders with their lovely range of items to buy and some new ones I haven’t seen at these events before.

The room was buzzing with people chatting and we sat with some ladies we hadn’t met before and had a chance to get acquainted.

I managed to have a few words with Angela to get some up to date news and she told me they are currently purchasing eye analysis equip4ment for Girne State Hospital which is costing 10,000 euros. It is so rewarding to know that the money donated to the charity from their various events is doing so much good for the benefit of the community.

The raffle was drawn with some lovely prizes for the winning tickets.

As usual there was a good attendance of supporters which was over 100 people and the result of the event was a splendid 2,660TL for the charity.

The next Coffee Morning will be on Tuesday 11th March, venue to be confirmed and also the NCCCT Annual General Meeting will be held at the Pia Bella Hotel in few weeks time, date to be confirmed. As soon as this information is available we will publish it in our Weekly Events Calendar.
