on the road longer
Glyn Morgan is the owner of the newly opened Car Clinic in Çatalköy and will be giving us regular tips on maintenance to help us keep our vehicles on the road and this month this is what he has to say:
Heater, Defrosters and Wiper Blades
Check that the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system are working properly as heating and cooling performance is critical for interior comfort and for safety reasons, such as defrosting. Autumn is also a great time to check your Air Filters. Wiper blades that are torn, cracked or don’t properly clean your windshield should be replaced. As a general rule, wiper blades should be replaced every six months. When changing the blades, be sure to also check the fluid level in the windscreen washer reservoir.
To help you recognize the signs of blade wear, here is a list of the five major signs of wiper blade wear. These include streaking, chattering, smearing, split rubber and squeak.
Tyres
Check the tyres, including the tyre pressure and tread depth. Uneven wear indicates a need for wheel alignment. Tyres should also be checked for bulges and bald spots. During winter, tyre pressure should be checked weekly as tyres lose pressure when temperatures drop.
